Professor Nikolai Klimko is a chief of Department of Clinical Mycology, Allergy and Immunology in North Western State Medical University, Saint Petersburg, Russia. For more than 30 years, Nikolai Klimko has been constantly engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of mycoses and other infectious diseases in immunocompromised patients. He is a member of various professional societies, including Russian Interregional Association for Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, Surgical Infection Association, and Alliance of Specialists for Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobial Chemotherapy. He is a member of Global Action Fund for Fungal Infections (GAFFI), Leading International Fungal Education (LIFE), and European Society for Clinical Microbiology EUCAST and Infectious Diseases Aspergillosis Guidelines groups. He is a Fellow of the European Confederation of Medical Mycology Academy (FECMM).

Nikolai Klimko is a co-author of international guidelines “Diagnosis and management of Aspergillus diseases: executive summary of the 2017 ESCMID-ECMM-ERS guideline”, “Global guideline for the diagnosis and management of mucormycosis: an initiative of the European Confederation of Medical Mycology in cooperation with the Mycoses Study Group Education and Research Consortium”, “Global Guideline for the Diagnosis and Management of the Endemic Mycoses” and “Defining and managing COVID-19-associated pulmonary aspergillosis: the 2020 ECMM/ISHAM consensus criteria for research and clinical guidance”. Prof. Klimko has authored or co-authored > 800 scientific papers in international and Russian journals.
